Today I found yet one more reason to love Laurel, Maryland…my usual stomping grounds for great thrift shops and hard-to-find spirits (Total Wine): BIG BAZAAR Indian Supermarket! It’s simply the biggest, cleanest Indian grocery store I’ve visited in the DMV. It’s a one-stop shop for fresh produce such as Asian eggplant and bitter melon; frozen convenience foods such as naan, kulcha, and samosas; Gits pakora and other mixes for the lazy among us (me), British products such as Horlicks, Ovaltine, and Pears soap; chutneys galore; and an impressive array of kulfi (Indian ice cream). The staff is helpful, too… and they even let me use their restroom (always earns points with me). Guess I’ll be making this a regular stop so I can satisfy the cravings gained by my 5 years living in an Indian ashram.

Had so much fun walking around here! Tons of yummy snacks & foods. Small store but with lots of variety. Tried lots of new foods here and had a lovely time! Super yummy pistachio popsicle.

I love this store. The prices are reasonable. The selection is great. We always find something new to try. The employees are friendly and helpful. The store is kept very clean. The owners are active and present. The samosas are worth a try, but heat them first. The ginger candies are better than any cough drops.
